How to Edit Flash Resources?

With Sothink SWF Decompiler, you can simply edit or replace the existing elements to make it a brand new SWF.

  • Follow the steps to edit shape resources:

Step 1: Select the shape which needs to be edited

In Sothink SWF Decompiler, the chosen SWF will be played in the preview window. Click on plus signal next to the SWF to expand resource folder list under tab "Single File Export" and choose the specific folder to view all the elements. If you want to edit one shape, you can right click on the shape to choose "Edit" commend.

Step 2: Modify the selected shape

Once you select one shape, the "Shape-Edit" panel will automatically appear on the ribbon menu. You can excute any command under "Shape-Edit" category to change the current shape. You can easily switch to any other shapes for editing by clicking on them under this editing status. If you want to exit the editing status, you can click "Finish Edit" button on the ribbon menu.

Step 3: Save the modification and generate SWF

When shape-editing is completed, you can click "export" to save the edited shape as .gls file, or exit the "Shape-Editing" panel and switch to "File" panel and click "Save" button to cover the original SWF file.

Note: If you want to cancel all the modifications, click "Reset" button on "Shape-Editing" panel to restore the original elements.

  • Follow the steps to replace Flash elements:

Step 1: Select the resource which needs to be replaced

In Sothink SWF Decompiler, the chosen SWF will be played in the preview window. Click on plus signal next to the SWF to expand resource folder list under tab "Single File Export" and choose the specific folder to view all the elements. If you want to edit an element, you can pick it up.

Step 2: Open edit panel to choose the new resource

You can right click the resource that you want to replace and choose "Edit" command to open "Edit" panel; and then choose new resource by browsing your local folder to replace the original element.

Step 3: Save the modification and generate SWF

When resource replacement is completed, you can click "Save" button on "File" panel of the ribbon menu to cover the original SWF file; or click "Save as" button to generate a new SWF file.

Note: If you want to cancel all the modifications, click "Discard Changes" button on "File" panel to restore the original elements.

Tips: The edited and replaced elements and the corresponding resource folders will be marked with * once one or more elements are edited. You can easily find the modified elements by this mark.
